Candidates
President
Eileen Han
My name is Eileen Han and I believe I am a strong candidate for President of KALSA because my experience in leadership and my social nature will fuel me to create a dependable and comforting space for current and future KALSA members. I have past experience as a Treasurer for a college sport team which has given me the understanding to balance leadership and time management. My actions as a 1L representative in KALSA would also show that I am dedicated in encouraging group activities. I am excited to encourage new 1Ls next year to join and wish to continue being an effective board member as President. |
Matt Kwon
I believe I would be the most suitable candidate for KALSA President because of my ability to multitask high-priority projects. I think I do an excellent job balancing school work with extracurricular/social activities, which I believe is essential for any leadership role. Moreover, I believe that I have the necessary patience and poise to allow other leaders to express their ideas and contribute to an overall goal. I firmly believe that diversity in opinion and background fosters strength in groups, and I would do my best to sustain such an environment within KALSA to strengthen the organization.. |
Operations Vice President
Steven Byun
I am running for the Operative VP position because I believe I can keep numbers accurate and make budgetary plan in accordance with KALSA’s financial status. I was part of student government in high school, member of general affairs at law department in college and accountant in social club at college. I was responsible for keeping track of spending and budgeting for all those three positions and I strongly believe that I can utilize my prior experience as to keep KALSA’s financial and fiscal matter on track. |
External Vice President
Cindy Im
As a 1L Rep, I have personally experienced the unique benefits of this organization through the mentorship program, spring fundraiser and other social events. These positive experiences led me to run for External VP. In addition to academic success, I believe networking is equally, if not more, important to law students just beginning their professional careers. As External VP, I am committed to hosting more professional networking events, as simple as a luncheon between students and Hastings alumni in the Bay Area, or a formal panel with Korean attorneys working in various legal sectors. I also plan to utilize my professional network through my membership in KABANC and AABA as well as personal contacts that I have developed since moving to the Bay Area in 2012 to expand the Korean network even further. I believe my background and connections in the Bay Area make me an ideal candidate for External VP. |
Matt Kwon
I believe I would be a good fit for the role of External VP based on a similar role I held in undergrad. As the Professionalism VP in USC Phi Alpha Delta, I was responsible for inviting and interviewing guest speakers with legal backgrounds for weekly meetings. I am very outgoing and confident in my ability to attract high quality professionals into my network. Moreover, I would be very comfortable working with other UC Hastings organizations to promote networking opportunities for all of our respective members. |
Academic Vice President
Cindy Im
Law school is not like any other educational experience. Many first-year students make the mistake of relying on their study habits they developed in undergrad. As Academic VP, I would like to provide as much information and guidance for 1Ls on how to study efficiently and effectively from the start. Since I have personally found KASLA Outline Bank and Study Prep Workshop to be tremendously helpful, I would like to commit myself as Academic VP to come up with more support and study tools to help future and current students achieve academic success. |
Administrative Vice President
Eileen Han
I believe I can be a viable candidate for Administrative VP because I believe the work of sending newsletters is essential in bringing more awareness to KALSA and its events. My contribution with the 1L KALSA fundraiser this last semester shows that I am timely, organized and efficient. I am confident I will be able to carry out the duties of Administrative VP in an effective and competent manner. |
Social Vice President
Steven Byun
I am interested in serving KALSA as Social VP because I believe Social VP is the position which has great potential to make KALSA well-known student organization at Hastings. I enjoy being creative and planning events and gathering with people having fun. Also, I don’t hesitate to support people around me with things to be done and willing to provide support for the events that would make KALSA better student organization. |
MattKwon
I believe I would be a good Social VP because I believe that spending time outside of the academic/professional setting is important for social relationships to grow and strengthen. I will most likely be living in the Tower next year, so storing the banner and other materials should be no problem (and I can likely host some fun social events too). |
